Pastor David and Elder Dayle Griffin congratulate graduating seniors, Morgan Herbst and Elizabeth Quinn.
Church family offer their congratulations to Morgan and Elizabeth.
Morgan and Elizabeth prepare to cut the graduation cake.
We also offer congratulations to graduating High School Seniors Gabriella Hewitt, Anneliese Bischof, and Tyler Considine. Congratulations to Maya Hensley-Lapham and Kevin Warren on the occasion of their college graduations. We also congratulate Matthew White and Ryan Skiff, who both graduated from preschool.
The children and young adults of the United Church led our service today, under the direction of Barb Skiff and Eric Infante. From singing and playing special songs, to "interviewing" God, doing readings, and taking the collection, they did it all admirably.
The Hand Bell Choir played lovely music, too, under the direction of Debi Craig.
We thank all of our young people, their organizers and the bell choir for such a lovely service! We also want to thank everyone who helped with the youth garden (details and photos below).
Kids and grown-ups, sunny skies, garden plants, seeds, compost, shovels and watering cans all came together on the side lawn of the United Church on Children's Sunday.
Youngsters learned how to hoe in compost, the proper way to plant tomatoes, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers and basil (for that pesto we all love so much), and of course, the all-important watering after planting. Our plants looked pretty wilted from the shock of leaving their tiny container homes to go to a place where real growth can occur.
We hope you'll visit the youth garden often. Please feel free to harvest any food that is ready when you are there. Also, we'll need help with watering and weeding over the summer. If you know of anyone who would like vegetables delivered over the summer, please contact Becky Wright-Sedam to arrange the details.
Thanks to Roger and Mary LeBarron for their help with materials for the youth garden and to Debbie Mullen, their daughter, of Forget-Me-Nots garden shop, for her donation of plants. Update: The woodchucks made a tasty meal of some of our plants, but a kindly soul added some marigolds in an attempt to foil their efforts!
